Can you be truly good friends with your ex?

In other words, can lovers be friends? Once a relationship comes to an end, both parties can either i) go on separate ways and say good riddance to what is now history! OR ii) have the "Let's Stay Friends" compromise - which is the gentler way of saying "Hey, it's not you. It's me. But look, i still wanna be friends with you *smile*"...

Lol, I like the smile, but seriously, a couple that has broken up can still be friends. It all depends on the way they broke up. For example, if one of the couple caught the other person having sex with another person during their relationship then no I don't think a friendship could exist, but if they both agreed that they would be better off separated then...yes they could still be friends.
