Can You Solve: 3x = 2x + X + 2?

Answer Question

Your equation has no solution, for it is equivalent to 0=2.

If the expression on the left side of the equal sign is graphed as a function of x, and the same is done for the expression on the right side of the equal sign, the result is two parallel lines. There is no value of x that will make them equal.
