What Is The Komodo Dragon?

    The Komodo Dragon, better known as Komodo Monitor, Komodo Island Monitor, Ora or plainly Komodo, basically is the biggest existing genus of lizard, growing up to a standard length of two to three meters.

    Due to their immense size, these lizards are top predators, usually controlling the ecosystem in which they exist. Komodo Dragons are associates of the monitor lizard family, Varanidae, and normally reside in the islands of Komodo, Rinca, Padar, Flores, Gili Motang, Owadi and Samin in innermost Indonesia.

    Komodo dragon's sense of hearing is not all that great, in spite of their evident ear holes, and their image discrimination is poor too, but they can still make out colours.

    Komodo dragons generally prefer hot and humid places, and often live in dry open grasslands.
