Could you please rephrase the question, because there is a television show called, "The Deadliest Catch", about fishing ships and crews in Alaska.
It's quite an interesting show, different crabbing boats go out into the Bering Sea and drop crab pots into the ocean. This is said to be the deadliest job in the world, because of the treachery that the job poses to the fishermen.
Not only can the ship sink, but, the weather can change in a heartbeat. One minute the water is smooth, and the next it's rising and falling with a storm that has moved in seemingly from nowhere.
The swells that occur, can be giant, 30+ feet sometimes, and the fishermen have to ride it out, there's nowhere to go, and you have to stay on the boat.
They don't just crab in the summertime, they crab in the winter as well, and this can be worse than summer time crabbing.
In the summer, if you fall overboard, you can get hypothermia in a matter of minutes, and can die from the water. In the winter, it's a lot worse, it doesn't take that long.
So, if a fisherman was to fall overboard, and his heart isn't strong enough to handle the shock of the water's temperature, he could die instantly. If he didn't do that, he would literally have just 3 minutes to be out of the water, or succomb to it.
These men have to endure the most treacherous things, sometimes they suffer injuries. And there isn't an onboard doctor, usually the captain, or if they're lucky, they have a ship mom to see to the injuries.
If the injury requires immediate medical treatment, it's never immediate, they have to call the Coast Guard in, and it takes them quite some time to get to you, because they have to locate you from your beacons and coordinates.
They don't get a lot of sleep during this time either, sleep deprivation is a continual thing for them when they have to pull the pots of crab.
Sometimes it's a full pot, and others, it's got none, or just 1, or 2. This is hard on them, they go out there to get the crab to earn money, and their hearts sink if the crab aren't there.
It's part of the job, and they realize this, so there isn't any blame placed on anyone when there aren't any crab caught. There's more to this, but I think I'm at my word limit for the site. I hope this was what you were looking for, if you want to watch the show, go to Discovery channel, you can see it there. Hope this helped. If not, maybe you learned something interesting about our lovely state.
