How Can I Make Cream Puffs?

Answer Question

Cream puffs can make for an excellent dessert, as they are fairly light and are thus pleasant, even after a heavy meal. In order to make cream puffs, you will need 1/4 litre of milk, 70g of butter, 140g of flour, 5-6 egg yolks, vanilla pudding, or cream (300g), sugar (250ml), water and 1/2 lemon.

The first step is to stir the milk, and add both the butter and a small pinch of salt, while heating it up on a stove. You can turn the stove off when you see it boil. You, should, however, keep stirring it, while adding the egg yolks and flour and ensuring that your mixture is smooth.

The second step is to portion this mix and create small mounds on a baking tin. (As with other pastries, be sure to butter the pan and add flour.) You should then place the pan in a pre-heated oven and allow the dough to rise. This takes approximately 5 minutes. At this point, decrease the temperature and let the puffs bake until they are a golden colour.

Once they are ready, remove the puffs from the oven and cut them in half, in order to add the cold vanilla cream. You can then sprinkle the top with caramel, or chocolate.
