If you feel that your debts are out of control then you can do something to at least help you work out how bad the situation is. The first thing to do is set out your monthly incomings and outgoings on a budget sheet.
The National Debtline charity has a pack that you can download from their website, or they can send it to you in the post if you don't have a computer. As well as leaflets explaining what can be done about debt, there are forms that you can fill in so that you can record, and then add up, everything that goes in and everything that goes out.
Once you've done this, you can then start looking at a debt management plan. With this you can go through all the options available to you and start to work your way back to financial health.
