    Is It Okay For A Cat To Suck On The End Of His Tail?

    Every night he sucks on his tail. I am not sure why he does this. Just the tip of it and now he is getting hair balls..He is only 15-16 weeks old and we adopted him from a shelter. Him and his 2 brothers and 1 sister were found in a box in the middle of a parking lot...Could that be to blame?

    It is possible that your kitten suffered some trauma earlier on in his life.  The tail sucking is probably just his way of comforting himself similar to a child sucking on their thumb.  Try distracting him with a toy the next time he does and see if you can break him out of the habit.  It is possible he will stop on his own as he grows older.
