There are several exercises that one can do depending on one's age, gender and fitness levels. One does not need any special equipment to exercise at home as in most cases a pair of dumbbells, a resistance band and a skipping rope will suffice.
Exercises that can be performed at home are free hand exercises like pushups to strengthen the chest, squats to strengthen the legs, sit ups and crunches to strengthen the abdomen muscles and aerobics and stretching for overall flexibility. It would be a good idea to first learn the proper manner in which the various exercises are performed before trying them out at home as an exercise performed incorrectly will do more harm than good.
One should ideally establish a daily routine and increase the intensity gradually also it is important to exercise at the same time daily for maximum benefits. One should exercise when one feels most energetic and active whether in the morning or in the evening.
