It depends on the size of each individual file. Longer and higher quality songs take up more space, and movies take up a lot more space than songs. I have a 2G Ipod and on average I can fit around 250-300 mp3s. I don't watch movies much, so I don't know about these. Hope that helps!

Movies will vary depending on the bitrate and length of them, so will mp3s but not as much, i get around 600 to 650 tunes on my 4gb nano all encoded at either 128k or 320k
