We want to go to Hawaii, does anyone have experience first hand on where to go?

Does anyone have experience first hand on where to go? We do not want to stay on the main Islands, but would prefer to stay in a remote (not to remote) and enjoy the the beautiful area and beaches, also we do want to stay at a main island also fo a night or two. Any ideas from people who have been to hawaii
