What Does It Mean? What High? What Am I At Risk Of Having?

Blood Results... WBC'S AUTO Result: 11.7 Standard Range: 4.0-11.0 Thou/mcl. Just got my blood work done today and received the results by email. Something is flagged as High and I don't know what. Please explain.

    If you received the results via email, and the doctor did not actually talk to you about the results, that is a good indication that even though it may be flagged as high, the doctor is NOT CONCERNED about the finding.  

    Values for all laboratory results are going to vary by the lab doing the reporting, as Jimmy reports it as 4.3-10.8, and your clinic/lab considers 4-11 as being normal.  

    He is right about the slight elevation could be due to a mild infection.

      You have only one parameter of your blood result that is white blood cells result. The normal range of WBC is 4.3- 10.8. Your levels are slightly high that can be due to some mild infection.
