There are a lot of things to do in Winchester! Since Winchester is a very historic city, there is lots to see. Winchester cathedral is just one of the features worth visiting.

The City Museum is located on the corner of Minister St and holds various historical collections of Winchester.

Winchester holds an annual Hat Fair (since 1974), which is a celebration of street theatre and includes performances, workshops, and gatherings at several venues around the city.

There is also the Theatre Royal, which reopened in 2001 after major refurbishment. There is live music and stand-up comedy. In 2005, a Front Row Concessions offer was promoted by the Theatre, which allowed benefits claimants, students and senior citizens to purchase tickets for certain shows at a discounted price of £5.

Other interesting places to visit include Winchester Castle, which is open April-September each year, 10am until 5pm, and is free.

Walks include the Three Castles Path, which is a 60 mile walk from Windsor to Winchester, and the South Downs Way, a 100 mile bridleway running from Winchester to Eastbourne.

There is a Art and Mind festival which began in 2004, which brings artists and thinkers to Winchester for various events, and Winchester Cycle Fair, which is held in June each year and includes a short gentle bike ride around historic points of interest.
