The cause is either medical or behavioral. Most often when a house trained dog begins having accidents it is due to a medical problem. Urinary tract infection, bladder stones, kidney problems, diabetes, and other endocrine diseases can cause inappropriate urination. Have your dog examined by a veterinarian to rule out these problems. The first step will be to have a urinalysis run. Once medical causes are ruled out then you will know it is behavioral and can take steps to correct this unwanted behavior.
