Who Is The Current Scottish Professional Footballer Association's Young Player Of The Year?

    The current Scottish PFA (professional footballers association) young player of the year is Celtic's Shaun Maloney, who won the award in two thousand six after a sucessful season helping Celtic to the Scottish Premier league title, and victory in the CIS insurance cup, a game Celtic won three, nil with Shaun Maloney scoring the second.  

    The Scottish PFA player of the year award was first awarded in ninteen seventy eight, with Graeme Payne of Dundee United becoming the first recipricant of the award.  

    Unlike many awards in Scottish football, this award hasn't been dominated by the Glasgow giants, Rangers and Celtic, this could be the result of the Old firms attempts to take their domestic dominance into Europe, thus recruiting more overseas players.  

    Previous winners of the award include Charlie Nicholas in ninteen eighty one, whilst still a Celtic player; Frank McAvennie, who won the award in eighty two whilst playing his football for St Mirren.
