One can easily make solar panels at home. To build a solar panel, you would have to cut copper sheet to a size that will fit on the burner of your gas stove. Make sure  the copper sheet is free of any kind of corrosion or grease. Place the copper sheet on the burner. Turn on the burner and heat the copper sheet at the highest flame possible. Due to heating and oxidation, the color of the copper sheet will change into different colors like purple, orange, etc. When the burner becomes red hot, the copper sheet will show appearance of thick black coloration. After half an hour, burner should be turned off. Now let it cool. Little flakes will come out, giving out reddish-pink color on the copper sheet.

Now, another sheet of copper is cut having the same shape and size as that of the first one. Both the sheets are placed in a jar. One of leads of alligator clips are attached to the new copper sheet while the other one is attached to the previously used copper sheet. From the clean copper sheet, lead is connected to the positive terminal of the meter. Subsequently, lead from the previously heated copper sheet is attached to negative terminal of the meter. Saltwater is poured into the jar. While pouring, make sure it neither wets the lead nor covers the plate. This solar cell is like a battery which can be used even in the dark.
