Why Cant Ligers Survive In Wild?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Ligers  are born with traits from both species.   Example: Ligers enjoy swimming,
so do tigers  and while they are lion like in being very sociable.  Ligers only
exist in captivity because the parents live in
    totally different regions and would
never breed voluntarily in the wild.   Ligers not only row up to be larger than
both tiger and lion, they start out as larger than lion or tiger cubs.  This means
that the tigeress may have trouble birthing.   Offspring are so large that they
    often have to be
delivered via cesarean section.  The Liger has been found to
have a rather short life span and can suffer birth defects as well as other mutations
that keep it from being able to survive in the wild.
