      Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin and it made a big contribution in the industrial revolution

      So-- What was this big contribution that the gin gave to the Industrial Revolution, especially when slaves, who don't normally get paid, were picking cotton?

      More cotton could be produced, because it would take the slaves many hours to pick all of the seeds by hand and it was faster rather than done by hand. Also some needed more slaves so with the cotton gin not as many were needed to pick cotton
