What Is The Difference Between The Roman Catholic And The Protestants?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

In the 16th century the Roman Catholic Church was being divided. A group of people who did not share the same belief system with that of the Roman Catholics, split from the church and divided the unity of Christendom in Europe. This group was later known to be the Protestants. The Protestants were also conservative but had disagreed with the Roman Catholic Church on issues like the acceptance of the theory of evolution of the Catholic Church. Views on homosexuality were different and Roman Catholics were neutral towards same sex behaviour where are Protestants are opposed. The protestant rejected the death penalty by the Roman Church. The main difference between the church service of the two sects is that roman Catholics believe bread and wine are like body, blood and soul and divinity of Jesus Christ where as Protest consider the two items as Jesus' body and blood.

The largest Protestant denomination, which is the Anglican Church / Church of England / American Episcopal Church DOES practice communion with the same items as Catholics.
THE MAIN DIFFERENCE IS that Protestants do not hold the Pope, a man, as a Holy man any more than any other man of faith. The Protestant clergy marry, accept women and homosexuals into their clergy, and do not condemn birth control. These issues are considered to be judgements which are to be made by God ONLY.

Also, Protestants do not believe in worshiping the many idols and icons presented by the Catholic Church for prayer and intercession. We recognize the Mother Mary and The Holy Saints, but do you condone praying to their statues or their images. Our primary intercessor is the Holy Son of God, Jesus Christ, and we only carry an image of His Cross without His Body on it, for He is no longer on the Cross but in Heaven and in our hearts.
