Are you serious? Of course the moon moves into different positions .How can it not when it orbits the earth approximately once every 29 and a half days!! , usually measured from two successive new moons. What do you think a lunar month is. ?

It is because of the light from the sun.

T is true moonlight is reflected sunlight BUT the answer to the question is that the moon orbits the earth once every lunar month so that at full moon we are between the moon and sun and approx 2 weeks later at new moon the moon is then between the earth and the sun. It is interesting to draw this on paper to see why we see the full moon and at new moon see nothing and then all the phases inbetween these.

Because it spins around the Earth and it's axis.
