What Does A Hooker Do In Rugby ?

Answer Question

The hooker is the Forward that is placed between the two props in the scrum, they are usually smaller than the rest of the team, height wise that is, but they need to have the physique of a forward so they dont get pushed around.  Their job is when the ball is entered into the scrum to hook it back with their feet so their team can play it (hence the name hooker).  Their primary goal is to hook not to push in the scrum, also many times its the hooker who throws the ball into the line outs.
