Ansel Adams was born on February 20, 1902 and passed away on April 22, 1984. He was a piano player who gave up his music to pursue a career in photography. During the 1920's he found himself very fascinated with the woodlands and wilderness of Central California. He spent many hours taking pictures of the beauty of the California wilderness. During the 1930s and the 1940s, he moved to New York in order to develop his photography career. His work encouraged many museums and college departments across New York and the United States to put in photography departments. Ansel Adams never really did make a lot of money in photography, but he loved photography and did everything he could to encourage photography among many. Today, many of his photographs can be seen in museums, schools, and other places all over New York and the United States. Most of his images are of the southwest.
