What Are Some Of The Recommendation For Teenagers To Return To Religion?

I think teenagers should not be forced to pursue or abandon religion. They should however be given knowledge and taught about the various concepts purported in religion and it should be up to them whether they want to follow a religion or not. They should not be forced to the world views assigned to them by their parents and elders and should have enough room to question and maneuver. Adolescence is characterized by rebellion and a characteristic questioning of authority and abstracts. If allowed their freedoms and if their personal demons sated and questions answered then surely would a teenager seek out answers in religion.

We raised our son in a Biblically sound home. When he was a teenager he started smoking pot. My wife and i went through all the normal reactions and discipline. Eventually, for spiritual and social reasons, when he was 20 or 21 we gave him the ultimatum - "no dope in our home. Change or leave". We gave him plenty of time to make arrangements to find a place and he did about a month later. He's 27 now. Still does the pot thing. What are we going to do? Are we going to disown him? Are we going to keep calling him once a week to remind him that he needs to return to God? If we want to push him further away then I guess we'd keep bugging him. WE PRAY!!!! With kids these days - with anyone - cramming and forcing just push away. GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL. He always will be. A nice little nudge now and then would be fine. God doesn't want us to just throw in the towel but He doesn't want us to demand either. Our son knows the way home. Only God knows the best way to show him.
