What Was The Tully UFO Incident?

Answer Question

The Tully UFO incident occurred in Tully, Australia in 1966. It involved a local farmer, George Pedley, who, while working a crop field with his tractor, claimed he had seen a saucer-shaped spacecraft rise from out of the nearby swamp and fly off. When Pedley went to the spot from which he had seen the saucer take off, he found a curious circular imprint left in the reeds of the swamp. This became known as the saucer nest and started a media sensation in Australia. Other "nests" were soon found in the Tully area and it became a focal point for UFO sighting reports for some time.

The Tully incident is said to have formed the basis for the modern crop circle phenomenon. Doug Bower, one of the two elderly Englishmen who claimed to have started the crop circle craze by faking UFO landing imprints with a plank of wood, claimed to have been originally inspired by media reports of the Tully incidents in Australia, where he had once lived.
