Where Can I Find A Dictionary To Define Contour Lines?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Contour lines are the lines found on maps. These lines mark out and depict areas that have a similar level of ground elevation. Any point on a contour line is at the exact same elevation as every other point on that line. For contour lines the sea level forms the base or zero elevation. Any point higher than the water level is above sea level while anything lower in elevation lies below sea level.

Specific dictionaries related to contour lines may not be available. Since contour lines are used in meteorology, geography, oceanography, environmental science and social sciences, dictionaries related to these subjects will provide definitions related to contour lines. Another option is to search for specific terms over the internet. Educational institutions and government bodies specializing in these areas may also maintain glossaries that will explain terms relating to contour lines.
