LASIK, is stand for Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis, is a type of refractive laser eye surgery done by ophthalmologists intended for correcting myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. The method is commonly a batter as like to photorefractive keratectomy, PRK, as it needs less time for complete recovery, and it is also experienced that patient feel less pain overall. Many patients choose LASIK as an other possibility to wearing corrective contact lenses or glasses.

The LASIK methodology was made possible by Spanish ophthalmologist whose name was Jose Barraquer and he developed the first microkeratome in 1960, required to cut thin flaps in the cornea of the eye and change its shape, this process is called keratomileusis.
LASIK surgery was created in 1990  by an italian person whose name was Lucio Buratto  and  an other person of Greece whose name  was Ioannis Pallikaris.LASIK quickly became famous because of the reason of its greater precision and lower frequency of complications as compare to these former two methods.

Thses days, faster lasers, greater spot areas, flap incision of bladeless, guided methodologies and wavefront-optimized have greatly increase the reliability of the method comparitivly to that of 1991.
