In recent reporting the New York Times refers to "Mrs. Clinton" and "Ms. Palin". They are both married, Why are they addressed differently in the Old Grey Lady?

I think it is a lame attempt to belittle Sarah Palin.  I don't think it was an accident.  I think everything they say or write about her has this tongue in cheek kind of attitude. "Well, we will just see about Ms. Palin after we put her through the paces of biased journalism".

Especially the Crucifixion she is suffering because of her 17 year old pregnant daughter! What is this even an issue of other than trying to embarrass her for nothing. She is an attractive woman and they want her to be a bimbo, what they have got instead is a Big-Bomb! She is no stooge and she can handle whatever the know-nothings have to throw her way!

Now they are really going after her. They are accusing her of all sorts of things. I hope the whole thing blows up in the liberals faces!! For shame trying to discredit such a truly remarkable woman.

Because no one is quite sure that Hilton Billsbury is a woman, therefore they must refer to he in the female vernacular. Don't you wish you VP was Sexy Like SP is undeniably a Hot Woman and no one, anywhere questions this issue as such they refer to her in the acceptable manner of Ms. Until she is VP!

Great Q once again Bickle! That Mohawk is shaping up I can just tell! You Talking to me?

OK I'll remove my answer from my stand=up comedy routine and answer the question.

The reason that the NY Times refers to Hillary as Mrs. Clinton is 1) she is a senator for the State of New York and 2) She is Presidents Clinton's wife. As such they respect her and title her with the married Sur-title of Mrs. Clinton. They do not want to disrespect someone they hold in such high regards and stature.

The reason that Governor Palin is referred to as Ms. Is you got it they are the New York Times, Palin is from that Hicks-ville State of Alaska which any New Yorker knows New York is the only State in the union with class. The Ms. Is to reflect the disrespect that New York has for the Gov. And is their back-hand slam without getting nasty as I did going for a cheap laugh!

Ny times is the utmost liberal publication on the planet. They love hillamonger and her communist agenda.hence the reasoning that liberalism and communism are synonymous. They more than likely hate palin and don't care to proof whatever they're currently slamming her about.

It's kind of funny really since once upon a time only LIBERAL(liberated) women used the MS.   Sarah.. Is young, strong, vibrant and so NOT HIllary... Perhaps the MS is indicative of the Threat she is coming up on Hillarys heels.  Who knows.. Maybe one day we will have a choice between 2 female candiates..

Didn't at one time they have a big discussion on the meaning of ms. Meaning both ms. And mrs( am i wrong). Maybe you ought to petition the webster' people and get them to clarify the definition so we can get some sleep.lol...isn't the NY times the same ones that we're printing stories without checking them out a while back?:)...sounds like they should have a old style copy boy to spell check their stuff in this day and age of computers because someone dropped the ball again..ha

Maybe because Mrs. Clinton is a little more well known to most of us than Ms. Palin.  I say that because who ever knew or heard of Ms. Palin before McCain made her his vice president running mate.  Several (bickle) are calling Ms. Palin a babe, pretty, attractive beautiful  etc. And she was a beauty queen at one time and  beauty queens are called Ms. Not Mrs.

Probably for the same reason they haven't figurer out why their readers are dropping like flies.  The New York times caters to liberals and democrats, when they stop subscribing then you know you're sunk.

Just to add maybe if Mrs.Palins' husband would have had an affair then she would have earned the right to be called MRS. instead of MS. Go figure I thought liberals were for all equality to better America. Must just be selective people. Their party sees a threat and they all jump on the band wagon to discredit her.

You need to voice your opinion too on here.these debates are pretty cool!

My grandmother once told me this:

            • Miss = single lass

            • Mrs. = married woman

            • Ms = woman head of household

Meaning she was widowed or divorced, but owned & maintained her own home.
