The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is a charitable organisation based in England and Wales. The main objective of this organisation is to spread animal welfare. It runs on the funds received from volunteers and is the biggest charity in entire United Kingdom. Its total income recorded at by the end of 2004 was 89.7 million pounds.

Initially starting as the SPCA in the year 1824 it has inspired many similar smaller organisations around the globe. The English and Welsh RSPCA was started by a group twenty-two reformers, this movement was led by Richard Martin MP, William Wilberforce MP and Reverend Arthur Broome.

They had originally started this organisation to offer support for Richard Martin's Act. This act had been approved by the parliament in the year 1822.
