I'm trying to decide what would be the best for me to purchase

The difference between the two cameras is the storage medium. A digital camera captures the image digitally, which can later be converted to print or stored on a disc or computer system. Whereas a Film camera makes use of film to capture the image, which is later transferred to paper. If you want the camera for ordinary use, I suggest you buy a digital camera because, it is easy to use and the quality of photographs taken even by a first time user are okay. Whereas a film camera is more suitable for professional photographers, as it needs skills which are gained overtime.
