An interview is definitely a first impression to your job. Hence it is very essential that you dress up formally when you go in for an interview. Even if you are going for an interview through some contact or whatever it is very essential that you dress up for an interview. For example, some people have a very wrong idea carried with them about certain interviews. If one goes for an interview to an ad agency they consider it being very casual as the atmosphere out there is very casual. But this is totally wrong. Maybe later after you get a job in an ad agency you walk in with casuals no one is going to tell you anything but for an interview you are marked on that.
In case you are a boy then it is essential that you wear a decent formal pant shirt and tie and watch for your shoe colour as well as your belt colour. In case you are a girl pull into good fit formal pats and a good decent shirt. Try to push in to little heels. That should do the job.

Well for an interviews one should always wear formals with a tie if you are a guy and for a girl, formals with or without a scarf will do. Don't wear dark coloured shirts, try to put on a single colour shirt, and make it a light coloured one.

You should wear clothes one level up from what workers in the job wear. So if they wear singlet, shorts and boots-ie a trade, then wear shoes, trousers and a neat and tidy shirt. If the workers wear trousers/skirt and shirt/blouse, then add a tie. You dont need to wear a suit and tie for a blue collar job or to work at a fast food store
