How Long Dose A Space Ship Get To Space?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

To break free from the earth's gravity and leave the atmosphere the spaceship needs to cross the threshold of earth's gravitational field. To do so, it is required to travel at a speed of about 11 Km/s. This speed is approximately 37 times the speed of sound. The spaceship is required to cross the gravitational threshold at a distance of approximately 9000 Km from earth's surface. So, if we do the math it will take about 13.3 (covering a distance of 9000 Km) minutes for a spaceship to go into space.
