What Is The Plot Of 'Against The Rule' By Linda Howard?

          The leading character Cathryn Donahue returns to her birth place to find Rule Jackson, after her father's death. Rule was her fathers right-hand. The interesting fact is that she was attracted towards Rule since she was a teenager.

          Rule is one of the reasons behind her relocation to the city. She is not happy to discover that nothing has changed nor her family neither her feelings for Rule. When both rule and Cathryn started working together, she learns to like her place and respect Rule. She used to respect Rule for his hard work.

          She has the telepathy that Rule in not interested in her but her property. She is thinking that can she be the second desire of Rule if not first. Rule Jackson is very thankful to Ward, Cathryn's father, for he rescued Rule from life full of alcohol and fights. Rule tries to take proper care of the Ranch even after her father's death. The business of the ranch goes down when the missing successor arrives.

           No woman could attract rule as he is attracted toward Cathryn. But he feels that his Attraction possesses problem.  Rule cannot help falling for her. Can rule will be able to show his love towards Cathryn?
