What Is The Origin And Meaning Of Surname: Tugby?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are no documented resources which offer the origins or the meanings of Tugby, a seemingly English surname. It probably refers to people hailing from the tiny parish council called Tugby and Keythorpe (which is often simply referred to collectively as "Tugby").

According to the 2001 Census, the total population of this little parish stood at only 316 people, who were living in households. This was further broken up into 164 men and 152 women. This parish falls under the Leicestershire Parish Councils.

It is interesting to note that the Parish is considered almost the lowest rank of local government which was formed some time back when, to the locals there was little difference to be seen between the Church and State.
