How Is It That A Star Seldom Finds Another Star Near It?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The instance of stars in the universe are numerous and that statement is not necessarily true. In the past century since the invention of the Hubble space telescope, especially scientists have found several binary star systems or even systems with more than two stars in close proximity existing simultaneously. Why, only 4 light years away from us is the star system Alpha Centauri which is believed to have as many as three stars. There are some solar systems with two stars with the less massive one revolving around the more massive one. It is generally now believed by astronomers and astrophysicists that binary star systems are perhaps more common than we had originally imagined them to be.
