Some couples do claim that they never fall out or argue. However, this may be because they are blissfully happy, it could be that they have genuinely blanked out any memories of arguments from their minds or they could be telling lies! Perhaps most scary of all they could have spent 50 years or so just suppressing their feelings and emotions.....
Arguing can be a way of clearing the air and making sure that you raise any niggles which have been upsetting you or getting on your nerves. Couples often start off arguing over whose turn it is to empty the bin and end up raking over incidents which took place weeks beforehand.
In some ways this vents anger and ensures that communication channels (eventually) open, which is perhaps more healthy than just accepting everything. So whilst some people may have fifty happy years of not arguing, others will also have 50 happy years of arguing almost every day !
