When Should I Shock My Pool?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Pool water is generally always constituted of impurities and unfavourable elements which may infect the water and decrease the effectiveness of the sanitizer and in turn prove hazardous to your health. Substances such as hair spray, sun tan lotion etc react with the chlorine in the water to create combined chlorine. To avoid this, regular shock treatment is required to wipe out the combine chlorine compounds and make the chlorine sanitizer more effective. Shock periods very from pool to pool, depending on how clean your pool is. Get a professional to have a look at it and recommend you the required time period between shocks.

A pool is generally shock treated by supplementing it with large amounts of chlorine, generally called as super chlorination.
