Who Is Oscar Arias Sanchez And What Did He Do?

Oscar Arias Sanchez is the president of Costa Rica. He was elected into office for a second term in 2006.  He was also president from 1986-1990. Ocar Arias Sanchez won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1987 for presenting peace talks that evetually ended the brutal civil wars that were taking place in Nicaragua and El Salvador. He did this by offering amnesty to all political prisioners and then encouraged  peaceful, free and democratic elections in all Central American countries.  He was a man who was very dedicated to a peaceful Cental America. He worked for the good of all Central American countries.  As president of Costa Rica, he has also attempted to address Costa Rica's economic problems. Costa Rica has experienced high rates of unemplyment and strickes and one of his main goals as a re-elected president is to bring stability to Costa Rica's poor economy and workforce.
