Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The oldest newspaper on record is the Swedish Official Journal Post OCH Inirikes tidningar, which was found in 1645 and was published by the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters. However, there are many other newspapers that lay claim to be the oldest, but many of these claim to be the oldest within a specified area, such as the oldest daily newspaper, or the oldest weekly periodicle and are not actually the oldest in the world.

The oldest manuscript ever to be found was the hand writings of Thomas A Kempis and was finished in 1441. Entitled De Imatitione was saved from the ruins of the monastery of St. Agnes, which was destroyed during the revolt of the Netherlands. Johannes Latomus, prior of the Monastery of the Throne was its saviour. The second oldest daily newspaper in the world is claimed to be the Al-Ahram, which was published in Cairo, Egypt in 1875.
