A classical partnership between Pakistan opener Salman Butt and middle-order batsman Yasir Hameed paved the path for Pakistan's success in the initial phases of the second one-day international match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.  With its 98-run victory, Pakistan not only managed to win the second one-day international against the world cup runners-up but also managed to clinch the series with an emphatic margin of 2-0.  It seemed at couple of instances that the Sri Lankans were coming back in the match nevertheless Pakistan managed to regain its erstwhile hold on the match when it mattered the most.  Taking advantage of the sumptuous batting conditions and the lush outfield, Pakistan managed to pile a massive mountain of 313 runs, the credit inevitably going to Salman Butt and Yasir Hameed's gnarly stay at the crease.  Sri Lanka were enervated further with the absence of their batting stalwart Sanath Jayasuriya nevertheless the Sri Lankan team tried their level best to put up a valiant fight against the Pakistan team.  At one point, it looked like both the teams were at an equal stand but with the fall of the third and soon after the fourth wicket, Pakistan came back into the match with the magical spell of Shahid Afridi's leg-spin bowling that restricted the Sri Lankans in such a way that ultimately resulted in their defeat.  Salman Butt was awarded Man of the Match.
