 The word Sion refers to many places in the world and they are on varied locations. You can find Sion in Switzerland, in France, in the Netherlands, in Czech Republic and in India.

The Sion in Switzerland is a town on the bank of the river Rhone and is located in the Swiss Canton of Valais. The town also serves as the capital of Valais. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Sion is considered as one of the oldest in the country of Switzerland.

The town is known to the world because of some lost bids it made to host the winter Olympic Games. For the year 2006 Winter Olympics it lost to Turin, Italy and on earlier occasions also the town has lost. In the years 1976 and 2002 the town lost the bids to Denver and Salt Lake City respectively.
