Try to find the dog and have it quarantined by the authorities. If this is not possible you will
have to take the rabies shots.

By law you will have to go for rabies shots. Luckily you do NOT have to have them in the stomach anymore! Contact your police department and animal enforcement authorities and let them know about this dog. If it is still loose in the area then other people and animals are at risk for exposure. This is serious enough that you cannot risk taking chances. There is no cure for rabies so you must go for treatment immediately.
