A common thing that a lot of fish get is called ick. If he has a lot of little white spots on him he's got it. You can go to walmart and get a chemical to pour in it and that will fix it fairly quickly.

Quick as you can!... get some bottled water and marine salts... 1 tsp. per gallon, and move him as soon as possible. leave him for a day, then try moving him back home again.

Well as far as salts go...you can get aquarium salts at the pet store or walmart. there is something called bloat that has the symptoms you described. You can find medice at the pet store. and 75% is way too much of a water change. if it really needs to be cleaned bad do a 20% water change at most then 20% again at least 24 hours later. And so on until chemical levels are within a good range.
