Can Dogs Get Meningitis?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Most people don't know, but meningitis is found in dogs and it's quite common. Some people believe that some forms of meningitis are found in specific breeds. Bacterial or virus infections are to fault for most cases of meningitis. The disease can be deadly if your dog has the worse version of it and may have to be put down but if your dog has the smaller case then with a lot of medication and tender loving care it'll be back to it's rightful self. The medication that is used is steroids and a lot of them too.

Hello all, I have lost a 2 year old English Springer Spaniel today with meningitis, he was in terrible pain at the end after three days. He is now out of pain and resting in his sunny spot in the garden - sadly I have lost a good friend, gundog and companion - Matt Limb - www.mlbft.co.uk
