What Are Low Cost Merchant Accounts?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Where budgets and profit-margins are tight, companies like to know they are obtaining the maximum benefit from their investment and not paying for extra and frills they don't need. To this end, low cost merchant accounts have emerged.

And - as competition in the internet merchant account marketplace intensifies - low cost merchant accounts are not always the cheap and cheerful, bargain basement service you may imagine. Sure, they may not offer the same level of features as other merchant accounts, but under the skin, there's all the same core operations required for e-commerce.

It doesn't make commercial sense for small companies to be bank rolling internet merchant account functionality and features ahead of time. Most businesses like to test the water and so a low cost merchant account is an ideal way to dip in a toe. Rather that than a headlong plunge that could prove to be a costly experiment in optimism over reality. For many small companies, then, a low cost merchant account acts a stepping stone to informed decision-making based on hard fact and practical experience.
