Britain came to India in the search of natural resources which it found abundant in India. Britain took over India by means of entering as East India company in India. They entered in the subcontinent and analyzed the weaknesses of mughal emperors. Britishers were clever enough to take over the land of rich resources in the course of few years. They kept on expanding their territories and their grip on the rich areas. Britishers used this land for the procurement of raw materials at very low prices and selling back the refined finished good products at very high prices. Britain exploited this land for their own trade benefits and for the exploitation of raw materials.

India in 1700s and 1600s and before was the world's richest nation and really no one was near it! Indian population was in 1700s was about 200 million at that time india was a agriculture based state and old books even says that there was so much money in everyone's house, at that time there was no currency people exchanged normally eatables and by business(they exported eatables to other nations) they earned gold coins and the yield was so good that there was a large demand of indian goods.
