You have to connect to the internet with a modem. You got an ethernet cord when you bought your Xbox. Put one end in the Xbox and the other in the modem. If it doesn't reach it, you can by a bigger one at Best Buy or Radio Shack. As for Xbox Live Gold, you can buy a subscription card for some money ($8 for one month, $20 for three months, $50 for one year) at GameStop or EB Games. Subscriptions can also be bought when connected to Xbox Live with a credit card.
