What Is Your Favorite Bible Verse And Why?

Answer Question

"Jesus wept" John 11:35. It's difficult to keep this verse in the context of the story given in John. This incident happened before Christ's agonizing time at Gethsemane. So it's a recorded scene where the Eternal Creator of the universe outwardly expressed deep emotion for what those around him were going through. Yes, He is a just God. Absolutely. But how merciful and caring is He for us. Jesus (GOD INCARNATE) wept. This is a real glimpse for us into the nature of God. I can't help but know in my heart that even while now and throughout eternity sitting at the right hand of the Father, Christ weeps for both His church and those who are lost. "My Church knows My Truth and yet they are so divided amongst themselves." "My desire is that those who are lost would come to Me and share with Me the Glory of my Father for eternity." God is immutable. He wept in front of us while on Earth. He weeps for us now from His Heavenly Throne. I'm so ready for that day when my tears will only be tears of joy and thankfulness. If i was flat on my face in Christ's Glory forever i would be satisfied. But i know it's going to be so much more than that!

My first comment was rejected because it was too long. I hope i can convey my thanks for your answer. My favorite verse is hebrews 11.1 & hebrews 11.,6. Without faith it is impossible to please him. I am going through some tests now, but the first part of testimony is test, you can't have a testimony without it. Your answer has lifted me up this morning, i know that God his worked through you .

Phil. 4:8 is my favorite! It says...
Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely whatever is of good repute let your mind dwell on these things

first of all it has my favorite word in it (whatever) and well... I just love it!

        Romans 8: 38 & 39

38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I think this one's pretty self-explanatory. We often forget about the power of God's love, thinking that something we do could somehow cause him not to love us anymore. This passage is the Christian's love note, signed "Love Always, God."

Jeremiah 15:16 When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear your name O Lord God Almighty."  To me this verse really drives home the importance of God's word.

It's also the shortest verse - John 11:25 - Jesus wept. So redolent of what would happen were the Second Coming actually to occur.

2 corinthians 10:5 because it tells christians not to think for themselves. Imagine that! No free thought allowed.

1 timothy 6:20 because it tells christians to avoid science. That's pretty obvious with (un)intelligent design and creationism.

2 peter 2:9, 10 because it tells christians not to despise government. I guess the ones who speak out against government are against the teachings of god, eh?

2 john 1:10 because it tells christians not to associate with non christians. Wait... Didn't jesus tell everyone to spread the word? Contradiction!

luke 16:17 because it says old testament law is always valid yet other places it says it's not. Contradiction.

Taking verses out of context can be used to prove or disprove anything.
