Recurring scores are called frequencies, for example, the number of persons obtaining the same score in a test or examination. A group of persons belonging to the same category can also be called a frequency. Such categories can be of various types of measurements, e.g. height, weight, scores, etc. or nationalities like Indians, Americans, Chinese, etc. or races like Negroid, Caucasians, Mongoloid, etc. By simple counting or tallying, it can be determined as to how many persons belong to a particular category. After all the frequencies are counted, they are mentioned across a dispersion of scores. This column-wise presentation in a tabular form is called a frequency distribution.
Frequencies can also be plotted across scores and presented graphically or in the form of 'Bar diagrams' or as 'Histograms'.
