I hope not, I love Bumblebees. It will be a sad day indeed, if the sound of a droning bumblebee stopping, to taste the daisies and other flowers on their path, ceases.
Bumblebees which are also known as humblebees are beelike flying insects belonging to the genus Bombus within the family Apidae, the same one bees belong to, and just like their relatives the honey bees, they feed on nectar from flowers and gather the pollen to raise their young.
The disappearing meadows and open wild grasslands with wildflowers, that are their home, are disappearing. so they are being studied by scientists. We hope the wide scale farming with pesticides does not silence them forever.
These bombers, as we called them as children, are beneficial to humans and to plants. They are visibly larger and furrier than others and perhaps that's why people are a little scared of them.
Some are black all over and some have black and yellow stripes
The Queen and workers can also sting, the sting is different to the honey bee because it is not barbed, so they can sting more than once and it is not left behind. I myself have never been stung by one however, I find them quite gentle.
Here in Italy they are called Calabrone, which my friends here think are called "Junglebees" in English which is quite amusing.

I've seen loads in the last week alone. Amazing what a bit of sun does! :)
You aren't kidding, the sun is amazing for making things grow, and bringing animals out of hibernation. I don't think that bees will go extinct.
