    The word restricted is used as an adjective and the word conveys the idea of something that is limited or quite small in size. The word is also used to convey the idea of something being limited as in what you are able to do or something is controlled by some rule or law. The following sentence can make you understand the word well in this context: In earlier days, society had put restrictions on the freedom it allowed woman, but now days the restrictions are being reduced; women are also feeling free to express themselves or act freely. In the above mentioned sentence the word is being use not only in its adjective form but also in its noun variant.
          
    The word "restricted" can also be used to express that something is stopping the free movement of an activity. The following sentence can explain the meaning in this context: Her long skirt has restricted her free movements.
