How Does A Telephone Box Work?

    A telephone box also known as the telephone booth, basically is a tiny structure which comprises of a payphone.

    Such booths usually have a transparent door for the purpose of privacy, and also to let other know that the booth is in use. These booths also usually have a printed directory of local numbers. Outdoor booths are generally made from metal and plastic; where as an indoor booth found in hotels often have an architectural finishing to it. Telephone booths have been used extensively since the 1910s. Now days most pay phones are fixed to kiosks, instead of having them in booths.  

    A telephone box normally works with the user inserting coins into the slot available on the phone or by using a telephone card. The growing use cell phones have reduced the demand of telephone boxes.
